check yourself if it doesn’t have trackers might be an improvement but if you are not self hosting it can you trust who is not to run custom snoopers? And if you do self host it… its still obtaining results from google and bing your as anonymous as the server ip.
As a ddg user who regularly recognizes that the core functionality is flatly worse than google, startpage sounds like a great option, assuming it allows disabling AI. Searxng also sounds worth investigating further.
