Why dream about being a genocidal pos when you’re already there? You should see what the current regime has done to the Kurds and Baha’is in the 80s and what they’ve been doing to the Balochis over the past decade or so.

I literally lived in two countries that experienced both, and I’m telling you that Iran has been worse in both countries for far longer. Maybe America is worse elsewhere, but in Iraq and Syria? Iran is very hard to top. In Syria’s case, there’s more competition for that top spot because Turkey, Israel, and Russia all have really good cases for being the worst imperialist force in the country’s recent history because they’ve all done just so much damage.
And I’m telling you that you lack perspective. I actually lived in both regions. I’ve seen this first hand. Trump is trying to speed run us into an autocracy, but Iran is way past that point. If a regime change happened and the current theocracy was replaced by a flawed autocracy, that would still be seen as a big improvement by many Iranians.
Nobody is denying this coup negatively affected the country. That still doesn’t absolve the current regime from criticism or responsibility.
We’re on the same page, I’m just trying to express how low the Iranian regime is willing to go.
In Iraq at least, Iran is viewed worse than the US. The American invasion destabilized the country, but Iran worked tirelessly for the past 20 years to make that the country remains a corrupt failed state that is run by Iranian terrorist proxy groups.
No dude, you’re underestimating Iran’s regime. When I still lived in Iraq, they would literally pay school children pocket change so they could stand around and manufacture a crowd while their propped up proxy politicians give a pro-Iranian speech. This is their genuis idea to convince Iraqis that they’re actually popular in our communities.
No, Iran is definitely worse in every capacity, but you’re still correct that this entire conflict is entirely run by deranged old men with fragile egos.
Trump and MAGA are definitely mind numbingly incompetent, stupid, and corrupt, but I feel like they’re a magnitude better than the mullahs. It sounds crazy to say, but it’s true.
Iran is a BIG country with over 85 million people. It should be similar to Turkey or Germany in terms of political, cultural, and economic power but it’s not. The reason? The regime decided to invest tens of billions of dollars since the 1980s to fund proxy groups across the middle east to destabilize the region, make enemies out of everyone, and enforce oppressive “morality” codes at home in accordance with islamic sharia law. This type shortsightedness is really hard to match.
Iran’s imperialism is both internal and external. Around half of the country in terms of both land and people are ethnic minorities who want independence. This includes Kurdistan, Baluchistan, Iranian Azerbaijan, and the Arabs in Khuzestan all have major separatist movements. So on top of funding, arming, and supporting terrorist proxy groups all over the middle east, they’re also occupying these nations by force kind of like what China is doing with Tibet or Russia with Chechnya.
Of course, they’re also oppressing the Persian majority as well, but these people see Iran as their country similar to how Russians see Russia as theirs even though they’re against the regime.
The real joke here is expecting the Iranian theocracy to be competent at anything, literally anything.
This is actually a real issue for a lot of people. The solution that I found is that you should sit down and write out a meal plan for the upcoming week. Like actually sit down and plan out your every meal and include snacks as well. Then write down the things you need to buy for those meals and snacks. Make sure you only put down things that you actually like eating.
When you go shopping take that list with you, and only buy the things you wrote on there and only buy amounts for the meals you’re planning for. If by the end of the week, you bought too much, then that means there are meals in your planner that you don’t really like. From there, you can refine your list and make improvements every week.
No, I’m not saying one is good. My whole point is that the gap between them is also large.
