Used systemd for years; realistically my first init.

Switched to Gentoo.

Switched to OpenRC.

Lost logs at work on a server.

Some small inconveniences show up on systemd.

Yea, systemd is not that great.

There are people saying they don’t want to care about an init system, but it’s the same attitude as of those who don’t care about what car they drive. Yes, it gets the job done, but that’s not good enough for me.

Tiling WMs are just faster. So much faster. They remove so much annoyance it’s really hard to put it to words. Binding programs to workspaces is what finally sealed the deal for me.

I’d hazard a gueas it’s not touching a system drive, but rather saving all files as a regular user.

It’s a Class A address, reserved for loopback devices. While not any sort of default - yes, it could be used as home :)

There’s a wonderful android app called Imagepipe. Does a few things, but stripping exif data is one of them. Workflow is also great!

I realise that won’t help against people simply recognising your cat, but it’s useful for protection against bots and stuff.

That is not at all the case in this context.

The problem is running GUI code as root as it’s never been vetted for that. What you want, effectively, is to have EDITOR variable of your session set to kate and open system files using sudoedit. I’m a terminal guy myself, so this exact thing is enough for me. Having said that - I’m sure someone will chime in with a plugin/addon/extension/etc that adds this to the right click context for what I assume is KDE. Or you can try looking for that om your favourite search engine.

It is quick and easy. Maintaining any other OS side by side is always a bigger ordeal than not doing it. It breaks the other way around as well - If you were running some linux distro and then tried dual booting by installing windows - no way you’d be able to boot into linux without extra tweaking.

But he doesn’t even wield absolute power. The bit he does hold seems to have been enough.

I was looking into it, but the more I learn about it the more I’m leaning towards something else - misskey, akkoma, etc. Same function, but, supposedly, fewer headaches hosting.
