So your one example of women having more rights is a rule made by a society ruled by men? Some people would argue that women are being deprived of the right to fight for their nation…

In most every metric of power in modern society, men are placed over women. In wealth, political appointment, the judiciary, the military, and the police force we see men hold the vast majority of power.

Name a right women have that men do not and I can guarantee that example was implemented and enforced by a group mostly made of men.

It’s almost like memes are based on context… The reason it’s impactful is because in humans it’s rare to see women be the more powerful sex, it’s rare to see women kill men. Flipping the genders wouldn’t flip the context of the the social norms that the meme is dependent on.

A large aspect of humor is a reverse of expectations. The reason this is funny and the reverse is not is because the meme is the reverse of the social normative of humans. Men kill more women, men are bigger and stronger than women, men have more social power than women.

Your accusations of sexism rings hollow when you actually use logic and apply the situation to the realities of our actual societal structure.

And we are unfortunately vulnerable to regression. It’s sad to think that if Mr Rogers was around today his show would probably be attached to an executive order to have his funding cut.

I don’t know if a similar show would be influential in today’s media market. Not just because it would be considered “woke” by half the population, but because the content would be like watching paint dry for a lot of kids.

I think a big part of learning empathy is wrapped up in learning how to be patient, and how to appreciate someone’s company enough to allot them your time and attention. I just don’t think people value patience very much anymore and wonder if our media reflects that or it’s vice versa.

I hope the only thing this leads to is a more engaging border guard dance routine this year. Hopefully when independence day comes the stomps will be louder, the colors will be prouder, and everyone will get to dress like fancy birds.

Well, the Area of the Russian Federation in Europe is 39% of the European landmass. This has nothing to do with the Asian part of Russia. The Russian Federation is about 1.7-1.8x the landmass of the European continent.

Still… I don’t really know how mostly empty tundra is really prevalent to the discussion.

And with a hundred million Russians living in the European part, that makes the largest ethnical group, considering the differences between the slavic ethnicities.

This is true, and I do wish there wasn’t an artificial constructed delineation between Russia and the rest of Europe. However, I don’t really know how western Europe is really meant to overcome this considering Russian cultural ideology is still being haunted by the specter of the Russian empire.

As someone who’s ethnically East asian, its always funny when I hear Russians consider themselves “The East”, when the only historical ties they have to the actual East is European styled imperialism.

Ethnical, Cultural and Historical divides are a poor and often arbitrary metric to justify modern Nations borders, both in joining or separating areas.

Also Russian in its legitimate borders makes up almost half of the European continent.

Not sure if land mass is exactly prevalent in this, as most of Russia is just colonized portions of Asia.

When we are past this whole mess we need to stop thinking of the EU as “Europe” and the other half of the European continent as “not Europe”.

It takes two to tango… A lot of the modern ideas separating Russia from Europe was done as a way to validate Russian imperialism. This idea is being continued by people like Putin for the same reasons.

Also ethnically speaking Slavs are the largest ethnic group in Europe with about 300 Million people.

Yeah… But thinking of Slavs as a monoculture is really dated, and kinda goes against the way we classify ethnicities all together. East, West and Southern Slavs are separated by distinct cultural groups, religions, languages, and about 1500 years of history.

Southern evangelicals are definitely the worst of the bunch, but up north there are some pretty cool Christian organizations. My fav is the Moravian church, which sprouted from an internal crisis in catholicism once they started printing the Bible in languages other than Latin.

The Moravians basically came to the realization that what the church said and what the Bible said weren’t congruent. So they decided to reinterpret the Bible, but couldn’t agree on anything but Jesus prob wanted people to help others. So the whole church is based around disregarding theological conflict and instead just focusing on serving the community.

I never said that they can’t serve a function, just that corporations like openai have a vested interest inflating their potential impact on the job market.
