CLion is alright, but I don’t like jetbrains UX design. I also prefer MSBuild and solution files over makefiles or cmake. Would be nice for an IDE that was all inclusive like Visual Studio is

Not him but I use Windows for C++ and C# development, and I use Linux for coding work stuff (mostly javascript). Have yet to find a good, free IDE for C++ development on Linux that compares to Visual Studio
Yeah it’s never really an issue for me. I just make sure to bring my charger with me if I’m out somewhere with my laptop. Most computing is done on my desktop though, I don’t use a laptop very much
I’m on x86_64 and I think I probably will be until I die because I don’t see the point of switching
Gimp = green is my pepper
Like how racism was invented by big Water Fountain?
“Richard stallman is not the emperor of foss!”
“… He told my dad he was!”
it’s going to bombard you with an avalanche of pop ups and nag-dialogues that a person who’s logging in every day might not appreciate
I’m not sure what you’re talking about because I just don’t get any of those.
And I never get popups for them. I main Xubuntu but probably spend half my time in Windows 11 for software development and W11 is basically just a visual studio machine for me. I upgraded my CPU recently and it’s pretty snappy now, too!
I’m not saying your view is wrong, I’m just saying that your experience has been completely different from mine apparently
You don’t have to enable any of those things, though. I don’t even have W11 signed into a MS account. I use W11 mostly for C++ development these days though.
I work with these fucking yuppies every day and I hate them so fucking much.
I can feel myself hopping off the tech train. Like when I was younger I was “the computer kid”, but I don’t find myself giving a shit about new technology like LLMs or even new smartphones.
Most SteamOS users aren’t interacting with a bash shell or anything though, they’re just running steam in big picture. If it’s valid to say that SteamOS introduced people to Linux because the kernel happens to be Linux, then it’s equally valid to say that about Android, which has had a much larger impact than SteamOS has
Yes but I don’t know if there’s anyone out there who would install SteamOS on their desktop, vs just using it on steam deck. I know people in this sub certainly would, but I don’t think normies would go out of their way to do so without official buy-in from Valve, and they got out of the steam machine business
I think women have naturally better emotional intelligence and I don’t think it’s because boys are told not to be emotional. I think women just see things that men don’t
Walk without rhythm
And it won’t attract the worm
$60 in the 1990s would be like $120 today. $80 is cheap by comparison
Idk who the first was, but Ubisoft, Activision, and EA all release $80 games. Plus there were N64 cartridges back in the 90s that cost $70-$80
Lol emacs is the opposite direction of where I want to go. I used to be a vim user and had all my plugins and configs in there until I realized that I was spending more time configuring vim than I was actually coding, so I stopped trying so hard and just moved to Visual Studio and VSCode
