If you can’t install something like EndeavourOS or tumble weed then you likely were not going to be able to reload an os anyway.
Installing vanilla arch is a very useful activity to do at least once so you know how the system works but don’t have to use vanilla Arch and can use any of the derivatives so long as it has the latest kernel / drivers for your hardware.
On new hardware it’s generally easier to use a rolling release distro in my experience.
You’re more likely to have a newer kernel and drivers that support things like wifi cards.
It’s extractive because tourists don’t add or contribute to the reason that place is a tourist destination to begin with and in fact often take away or are detrimental.
Of course they bring money but too many and the start to crush the vibe, ruin the housing market and sometimes cause gentrification pushing out the people who were originally there.
Some people are fine but too many can ruin things pretty quick. In the age of Instagram and accessible travel it doesn’t take much for a small place to get over run in just a few years.

Most of the older stuff is really energy inefficient. That said they have looser tolerances so they break less and keep on chugging.
The new stuff has tighter tolerances and is made to reduce cost. These powers combined make them shit.
The worst part is that in a lot of cases paying more won’t actually get you out of the trash. They just strap smart garbage to the cheap shit. You have to pay 5 to 10 times the amount for an actual decent appliance (ie one that’s just good at doing what it is supposed to do) and even then it’s a gamble.

I started using Arch flavors because when you have brand new hardware the latest kernel can be important. After the machine is a couple years old it doesn’t really matter.
Also Endeavouros is where it’s at (but don’t tell the vanilla Arch people, they won’t help me with my problems if they find out)
Arch is fine, installing it is a good learning experience. After that endeavoros does what I need to and I just have to click next a couple times and get on with my day.
While I don’t disagree with you I think what drives designer clothing has more to do with image and projection than actually looking good, even on attractive people.

The price can actually be quite good but you have to have reasonable expectations. If you see strawberries and there are snow banks outside well… Do the math. On the flip side if something’s in season you can often get a good deal.
A farmer’s market is not a grocery store so it does require a bit of savvy. If you see apples and it’s June those are probably last year’s apples from cold storage etc.
