There it is. Probably won’t take much to hear you say “most that can’t afford it simply didn’t try as hard as me and the people I know cause hard work is all you need”.

It’s hard as hell, and I also got lucky getting a job at a dealer that actually takes care of its employees. Also lucky that this trade is in very high demand. I could leave here and have five job offers by tomorrow. That actually happened back when I was an apprentice, got laid off from the small independent shop I worked at. Had two job offers before I even got home.

I work with many people that are early 20’s that own a SFH or even a duplex or triplex. Get into the trades, there is a big demand. But not everybody can hack it. It is hard on your body.

Do you consider mechanics as working class? Probably can’t get much more working class than that.

LOL 65k. Any decent flat rate tech is making double that. Was offered a job in Cali that would have paid me triple that, but then I would have to live in the US.

Never apply to a shop that posts ads, it’s guaranteed to be a shitty workplace.

There’s a reason they have ads up lmao.

A decent tech could flip his boss off and not even be halfway through packing his and have 2 job offers lined up.

All the decent flat rate techs I know make that much. Some much more. I don’t know anyone who has had to apply for a proper job through a job posting. It’s all through word of mouth. I have never had to “apply” for a job. All those listings must be for pretty shitty jobs, especially if they have a “salary”. Means they have hardly enough work for their techs. Any good shop will pay flat rate. So you can get paid 20-30 hours in an 8 hour shift. My best day was 36 hours in an 8 hour shift. And I make $41/hr.
